In October 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming Sylvatest to Malaysia as they officially took their first steps into the ASEAN region. Hosted at Alfa Soundscape’s Office, the visit marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration focused on innovation, sustainability, and the future of timber construction.
Sylvatest is globally recognised for its non-destructive wood characterisation technology, enabling accurate assessment of timber properties without compromising the material itself. Their technology opens new possibilities for smarter material use, longer life cycles, and more responsible decision-making across construction, restoration, and design applications.

At ALFAdB our work has always gone beyond performance alone. As specialists in design solutions that integrate acoustic comfort, we are deeply committed to addressing broader CSR and sustainability challenges within the built environment. This includes actively promoting the use of natural materials, as well as materials that are reused or recycled, wherever possible.
The discussions and demonstrations during Sylvatest’s visit highlighted strong alignment between our organisations—particularly in how technology can support more sustainable material choices without sacrificing quality, safety, or performance.
One of the most exciting aspects of this collaboration is its potential impact across the region. By introducing Sylvatest’s technology to ASEAN markets, we are opening doors to:
More efficient and responsible use of timber resources
Improved assessment of existing wood structures
Extended life cycles for timber in both new builds and renovations
Innovative approaches to heritage and temple restoration, where non-destructive testing is critical
These advancements not only support sustainability goals but also help preserve cultural and architectural heritage while meeting modern performance standards.

This first meeting represents more than a visit—it marks the start of a long-term journey towards innovation-led sustainability in timber construction across Southeast Asia. Together with Sylvatest, we look forward to exploring new applications, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a more resilient and responsible built environment.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sylvatest for their visit and to all involved for the engaging discussions and shared enthusiasm.
The future of timber construction in the region is full of promise, and this is just the beginning.
